Meet the ASCEND Girl Gang

Who is the ASCEND “girl gang” headed to Summerfest?By Luke Alpert, ASCEND In-House Reporter

Flash Foxy began in 2014 as an online platform to “celebrate women climbing with women and to be a place where women could come to feel inspired by and connected to each other.” The inaugural Flash Foxy Festival took place in 2016 and now there are multiple festivals and events each year to continue the mission the online platform was founded on.

ASCEND has, from its inception, made an effort to be more accessible and inclusive, and to continue to learn and grow as an ever more safe and inclusive community. Flash Foxy's mission and Summerfest align with our values and we are proud to be a sponsor this event partnerned with SWPACC.

Some of ASCEND’s fierce women leaders are heading to the New River Gorge this summer to attend Flash Foxy’s Summerfest. A gang of women. A girl crew. A girl gang, you might say. Catlyn would definitely say that… so you should too.

Not only are Catlyn, Chelsea, Jill, Lily, Sara, Adrienne, and Sonora--aka the girl gang--heading down this June for Summerfest, but Sara Middleton, ASCEND’s Fitness Director, is leading a workshop on injury prevention! Want to hang out with the gang? Learn some cool stuff with Sara? Head over to Flash Foxy Summerfest to sign up!

I sat down with the girl gang representing ASCEND to find out just what Flash Foxy, feminism, and being rad outdoor women leaders means to them.
